Additional NAMI Programs

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free, 12-week course for families and friends of individuals living with brain disorders called serious mental illness.  The course is taught by trained family members who have also lived with this experience.  All course materials are furnished at no cost to you!  Topics include:

How to solve problems and communicate effectively
Taking care of yourself and managing your stress
Supporting your loved one with compassion
Finding and using local supports and services
Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain
How to handle a crisis
Current treatments and therapies
The impact of mental health conditions on the entire family

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a free, 4-week course for adults living with mental health challenges. NAMI Peer‐to‐Peer provides an educational setting focused on recovery that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope. The NAMI Peer-to-Peer education program is:

Free and confidential
Held once a week for 2 ½ hours
Taught by trained Peer Mentors living in recovery themselves
A great resource for information on mental health and recovery

NAMI Connection is a free, peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. You will gain insight from hearing the challenges and successes of others, and the groups are led by NAMI-trained facilitators who’ve “been there”.  This group is held every Tuesday at noon and includes a FREE LUNCH.

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group will help you:

See the individual first, not the illness
Recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers
Understand that mental illnesses are traumatic events
Aim for improved coping skills
Find strength in sharing experiences
Reject stigma and not tolerate discrimination
Not judge anyone’s pain
Forgive ourselves and reject guilt
Embrace humor as healthy
Accept that we cannot solve every problem
Work for a better future in a realistic way

Virtual Family Support Group
(meets at noon on Tuesdays)

Monthly Support Group

This group consists of persons with a mental illness, family members, and mental health care workers. The group meets regularly on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1229 3rd St., Beaver, PA. 15009 at 7 pm. The Support Group activity usually consists of a guest speaker followed by a Share and Care session.
