SUMMARY:Webinar: Conversations on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) Training w/ FREE CE’s
DESCRIPTION:Summary: CALM (Conversations on Access to Lethal Means) is a suicide prevention training that encourages the safe storage of lethal means (firearms and medications) during a suicidal crisis. By temporarily putting time and distance between a suicidal person and highly lethal means, a life may be saved. CALM: Counseling on Access to Lethal Means was originally created as a workshop designed for mental health professionals.\nConversations on Access to Lethal Means were developed for communities because everyone can benefit from this training. This training is not anti-gun or anti-drug and is designed to be a specific effective part of suicide prevention.\nIntended Audience: All communities of interest in suicide prevention\nREGISTER HERE ( https://learning.agrisafe.org/products/conversations-on-access-to-lethal-means-calm-training-live-21225 )\nObjectives: At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to…\n\nIncrease their knowledge about suicide facts\nLearn how to inquire about the accessibility of lethal means\nLearn how to suggest safe storage\nAppraise results of lethal means reduction in countries outside the U.S.\nPractice their new skills through group discussion\n\nFor more information about CALM training, please email Olivia Bury at obury@agrisafe.org.\nTo register for this training, you must have a free account in the AgriSafe Learning Lab. If you do not have an account, please create one here before registering.\nCONTINUING EDUCATION: This course is jointly provided by the University of Michigan Center for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering.\nMEET THE INSTRUCTORS: AgriSafe CALM instructors are trained and certified through CALM America. \nOlivia Bury, MA, PLPC (Behavioral Health Specialist, AgriSafe Network) “Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) enhanced my capabilities as a mental health clinician, providing me with appropriate terminology, options for safe firearm storage, and strategies to help create time and distance. After taking this training, I feel confident and prepared to support my client’s safety during a time of crisis.”\nLinda Emanuel, BSN, RN (Community Health Director, AgriSafe Network) “Farmers and ranchers have substantial workloads with multifaceted stressors that complicate their work/life balance. This imbalance can weigh them down so heavy, that they change in ways that causes considerable worry for families and friends. Conversations on Access to Lethal Means provides language and guidance for individuals to confidently navigate addressing these situations, to help protect and preserve a life, a family, and a legacy.”\nA special thanks to the program sponsor: agrisafe.org\n
